Dr. Fugazzotto Retired on December 18th

After 41 years of practice at Pediatrics East, Dr. David Fugazzotto retired on December 18, 2013. Dr. Fugazzotto, who became the 4th doctor at Pediatrics East in August of 1972, has taken care of generations of children over the 4 decades. While we are sad that he will be leaving our practice, we are happy for him and his family as he enters the next phase in his life.
We are asking if anyone would like to send any messages of thanks or stories about Dr. Fugazzotto, please send your regards via mail, drop off a note to the clinic, or send us a message on Facebook. If you would like to mail it, please send it to:

 Flu Vaccine Update (9.20.13)
We have received all of our flu shots and FluMist for both private insurance and for VFC. We are now scheduling for our flu shot clinics. Please see our Flu Information page for times of the flu shot clinics. Check our website for up-to-date information on the supply status of the vaccine.
PLEASE NOTE that the vaccine has been updated this year to cover more strains of the flu virus and should be more effective. This update to the vaccine (called quadravalent) is why it is a little later than normal getting to all of the clinics. The older vaccine (called trivalent) with less strain coverage is still being manufactured, so if your child gets it from another place (drug store, school), make sure that he/she is getting the updated quadravelent vaccine. See our "Flu Information" page for more information about this update.
Pediatrics East is Now a Certified NCQA Level 3 Medical Home!
In 2013, Pediatrics East achieved the top-ranking Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) certification from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
Pushing for evidenced-based medicine, PCMH certification requires physicians and staff to monitor and record every aspect of the patient’s care, including referrals, medication pick-ups, emergency room visits, diagnostic tests, shots and other services performed both within and outside of the practice. The goal is a team-based approach that provides comprehensive care for the patient. Using a standardized point system and six must-pass elements, the NCQA frequently checks the certified practice’s progress and results.
“The patient-centered medical home raises the bar in defining high-quality care by emphasizing access, health information technology and partnerships between clinicians and patients,” said NCQA President Margaret E. O’Kane. PCMH Recognition shows that these practices have the tools, systems and resources to provide their patients with the right care at the right time.”
Pediatrics East was founded in East Lake in 1957 by Dr. Vincent Carnaggio, who was joined by Dr. Andrew Charles after five years of growth.
“Becoming a medical home is just a first step in looking at quality, outcomes-based care over quantity-based care,” said Dr. Gigi Youngblood of Pediatrics East. “We’re not looking at how many times a patient comes into our clinic, but how well the patient is doing, how well the patient has managed.”
