 Flu Shots are Here (11.17.15)!
We have our flu vaccines for our private pay patients AND VFC (Medicaid and self-pay). We have our normal supply of flu shots for both private insurance and VFC. However, due to a nationwide shortage of FluMist stemming from initial manufacturing problems, we only have a limited supply of FluMist for both private insurance and VFC. We anticipate getting small shipments periodically for FluMist over the next several weeks.
We have already started scheduling for our flu vaccination clinic. Check on the "Flu Information" page for times for the flu shot clinic. If you are coming to our flu vaccination clinic, you can go ahead and print off and complete the short questionnaire form that we require you to fill out before your child can receive their flu vaccine. Dr. Ann-Katrin Wilson Joining Pediatrics East!
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Ann-Katrin Wilson will be joining Pediatrics East starting March 11th. As many of you may know, Dr. Wilson has been in practice at Pinson Pediatrics for over 27 years. We are so excited that she has decided to join our practice and become a part of the Pediatrics East family.

We are happy to have all of Dr. Wilson's patients from Pinson Pediatrics follow her to our practice. If you are one of her patients at Pinson Pediatrics, please call our office to get established with Pediatrics East and to have your child's records transferred over to us.

Pediatrics East is Now a Certified NCQA Level 3 Medical Home!
In 2013, Pediatrics East achieved the top-ranking Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) certification from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
Pushing for evidenced-based medicine, PCMH certification requires physicians and staff to monitor and record every aspect of the patient’s care, including referrals, medication pick-ups, emergency room visits, diagnostic tests, shots and other services performed both within and outside of the practice. The goal is a team-based approach that provides comprehensive care for the patient. Using a standardized point system and six must-pass elements, the NCQA frequently checks the certified practice’s progress and results.
“The patient-centered medical home raises the bar in defining high-quality care by emphasizing access, health information technology and partnerships between clinicians and patients,” said NCQA President Margaret E. O’Kane. PCMH Recognition shows that these practices have the tools, systems and resources to provide their patients with the right care at the right time.”
Pediatrics East was founded in East Lake in 1957 by Dr. Vincent Carnaggio, who was joined by Dr. Andrew Charles after five years of growth.
“Becoming a medical home is just a first step in looking at quality, outcomes-based care over quantity-based care,” said Dr. Gigi Youngblood of Pediatrics East. “We’re not looking at how many times a patient comes into our clinic, but how well the patient is doing, how well the patient has managed.”
